Unicorn Remnant. Inspired by medieval unicorn tapestry, Hunt for the Unicorn, but adding modern depictions of garbage in the mille fiore pattern (mainly cigarette butts). Mille fiore is italian for "thousand flowers"and was a popular design motif in the middle ages. The tapestry is made with nuno felting techniques incorporating silk fabrics and laces, cormo and merino wools, nylons, bombyx silk, and hand embroidery. Approximately 8' x 6'. The detail pictures below show some of the patterned fabrics used in the piece, including plaids. Several cigarettes are embroidered in silk yarns on the tapestry. $1500.
